Telling the tales that consume my thoughts offers me an amazing outlet to explore and share. I sit in the front row, first audience to the stories that develop through me. Even though they are my brewing sagas, I frequently get the sense of: No way! You’re kidding! So cool! Umm … yikes! with the occasional Holy shit! as the story unfolds for me. Being an author allows me to develop these fantastical whims to a conclusion and give them a polish and focus enough to share them with others. What a wonderful gift for me, or any writer.
Human
As serious as life can become, we need to ensure our fun is adequately fueled. Amongst all humans, I believe our best moments are in silly expression. While I often write about dark places—on the ground and in the soul—I do hold a heart-centered wonder for the human spirit and our simple capacity to smile, laugh and love. Witness an uncomfortable stranger and see worthiness. Every life has a story, and some more engaging than others. But all are meaningful, which makes it a great honor for me to be present in such excellent company. Thank you.
Dreamer
We are too often told, especially as children, to pull our heads from the clouds—but it is so wonderful here. It is the birthing grounds of empathy and innovation. Beyond the veil that is our perceived reality, delving into the dreamscapes of the imagination offers the self-directed creation of story into a vivid experience where boundaries dissolve and potential germinates. Diving into these creative places offers an opportunity for thrilling escape, as well as a construct for creating solutions to vexing human problems. As a dreamer, I like to live without limit. Join me. It’s so much fun.
